The ST-1 is engineered to absorb the thermal expansion and pressure surges that occur when water is heated in a closed plumbing system. By accepting this expanded water, it prevents dangerous pressure build-up, saves energy, and protects the sensitive heat exchangers in tankless units from premature failure. Its unique sealed air cell design eliminates the need for the manual air charging required by standard tanks
